Who we are
Embra: Personal Archive is an iOS journaling app published by Embra. We can be reached at privacy@embraarchive.com.
What data we collect
We collect nothing. Embra: Personal Archive does not operate any servers, does not require an account, and does not transmit your journal data anywhere. All data you create — journal entries, voice memos, mood tags, and settings — is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework.
There is no registration, no login, and no profile. Embra has no way to identify you.
AI features — fully on-device
Monthly Insights and your Annual Letter are powered by Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework. This means all AI processing happens entirely on your device, using Apple's hardware — your journal text never leaves your iPhone for AI analysis.
- What leaves your device for AI: Nothing. On-device AI has no network component.
- Who processes your text: Only your iPhone's neural engine, using Apple's Foundation Models. Apple's own privacy policy governs that framework.
- Training: Your data is never used to train any model.
Voice dictation
Voice-to-text transcription in Embra: Personal Archive uses Apple's on-device Speech Recognition framework. Audio recordings and transcriptions are processed entirely on your device and are never sent to any server, including Apple's.
Analytics
Embra: Personal Archive does not include any third-party analytics SDK. We use Apple's App Store Connect analytics, which are anonymised and aggregated by Apple before we see them. We receive no personally identifiable information from these analytics.
Notifications
If you enable Daily Prompt or Missed-Day Nudge notifications in Settings, those notification schedules are stored locally on your device and managed by Apple's notification system. We do not use push notification services that transmit your data to a remote server.
Data deletion
You can permanently erase all data stored by Embra: Personal Archive at any time from within the app:
Settings → Erase All Archive Data
This action deletes all journal entries, AI insights, Annual Letters, voice memos, your name, preferences, and all other app data from your device. This cannot be undone. Because no data is stored on external servers, this action is a complete and permanent deletion.
In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
Subscription purchases are processed entirely through Apple's App Store. Embra does not receive or store your payment information. Subscription management (including cancellation) is handled through iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.
Children's privacy
Embra: Personal Archive is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
